Scarlett Summa, RN, WOCN,  University Hospital Erlangen, Germany

I completed my WOCN Education program in 1994 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Since then, I have worked as a stoma care nurse in the surgical Inpatient and Outpatient departments of University Hospital Erlangen. In the late 90s, together with my colleague Gabi we developed and designed a new ET Nursing program (stomacare) for the Deutsche Angestellten Akademie Kassel. In 2018, our long-cherished dream came true, publishing as a co-author „Ganzheitliche Pflege bei Patienten mit Stoma“ - a textbook for German Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Education Programs.

Since 2019, I’ve been a Hollister ICEF (= international Clinical Expert Forum) member- “Characteristics of Convex Skin Barriers and Clinical Application- results of an International Consensus Panel” was published in 2021.

The latest publications developed with the University’s Dermatology department in Erlangen are „Stoma care in pyoderma gangrenosum“ (Coloproctology 2022) and „Peristomal skin lesions- identifying patients at risk “ (Gastroenterology 2024) .
